Two Mountain Winery

Visual Identity & Packaging

As they approached their tenth year of winemaking, Two Mountain Winery sought to redesign their labels to project a more grown-up and refined aesthetic. The new design updates distinctive brand elements while creating a dramatic and minimalist new look. Toothy white paper labels, stamped foils, de-bossed details, individually-numbered bottles, and the winemakers’ signatures on the capsule all work together to create an understated elegance reflective of the winery’s small-batch, hand-crafted product.

The previous packaging was designed to convey luxury, but Two Mountain was finding that the black labels died on the cluttered retail shelf. Further, as they expanded the line to include more varietals, they were running out of foil colors. The redesign leverages their equity in a large, script “2,” as well as the “TMW” chop, preserving elements customers are familiar with and attached to. The label was changed to white for shelf presence, and luxury is now signaled through subtle use of finishes and materials.

Humble Roots. Estate Wines.

Two Mountain Winery is an up-and-coming winery in Washington’s Yakima Valley. Third generation farmers, the Rawn Brothers have converted their grandparents’ orchards into vineyards, parlaying their knowledge of the land into the burgeoning Washington wine industry. They take pride in the fact that they grow their own grapes and make the wine on-site at their Zillah estate. It’s from this location that the winery gets its name — inspired by the sweeping views of two of Washington’s most impressive peaks, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams.

Brothers Reserve

Since 2010, a very small portion of each harvest at Two Mountain has been held in reserve for the Rawns’ passion project, the Brothers series. These wines are available only in the tasting room and to wine club members. Offered at a premium price point, the BROS Reserve line features a luxurious aesthetic, with stark black labels and a distinctive, embossed metallic logotype. Each label is signed by hand, and the bottles are individually dipped in gunmetal-colored sealing wax.

Rosé 3-pack

With the burgeoning popularity of Rosé, Two Mountain wanted to capture the casual nature of the category without sacrificing sophistication. They felt the box wine market was overly saturated and they specifically did not want to do a canned wine. From a marketing and branding perspective, glass bottles just feel better. Why 3 bottles? The 3 bottles combine to equal one standard (750mL) bottle of wine—each smaller bottle equals a little bit more than one glass of wine. The Rosé itself is the same estate-grown wine that is in Two Mountain’s standard size Rosé. All of their wine is grown, produced and bottled in the Yakima Valley.
